01 / CAPABILITIES

Engineering support
for your whole program.

Software and engineering services for the problems training departments actually face, including the ones commercial products don't cover.

A

Simulator engineering

Get more from the simulator you already have, with less manual effort to keep it tested and certified.

A-1

Simulator instructor station enhancements & integrations

Extend the instructor station you already run. We build tools that work alongside or integrate with your existing environment to cut scenario setup time, reduce instructor workload, and capture better data from every session.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Scenario setup, sequencing & IC management tools
  • Malfunction, remote function & trigger libraries
  • Session data capture, event logging & replay
  • Integrations with LMS, scheduling & qualification systems

A-2

Simulator testing automation

Automate the repetitive, documentation-heavy work of simulator performance testing. Test automation is designed around the requirements of ANSI/ANS-3.5 and 10 CFR 55.46, so results are repeatable, traceable, and ready for review.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Automated steady-state, transient & malfunction test execution
  • Comparison to reference plant data against acceptance criteria
  • Auto-generated test reports & discrepancy tracking
  • Scheduling for periodic and post-modification testing
  • ANSI/ANS-3.5
  • 10 CFR 55.46
  • Reg. Guide 1.149

A-3

Simulator engineering & technical consulting

Hands-on engineering support from people who have maintained, modified, and tested training simulators. Bring us a backlog, a fidelity problem, or a configuration-management gap.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Simulator modification & design-change support
  • Fidelity reviews & discrepancy resolution
  • Configuration management & documentation
  • Certification-readiness assessments & peak-workload support

A-4

Simulator maintenance modernization

Bring simulator upkeep out of spreadsheets and tribal knowledge. We modernize how discrepancies, model changes, and software loads are tracked, tested, and controlled, so maintenance keeps pace with plant changes.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Discrepancy report & work tracking systems
  • Model & software configuration control with full history
  • Automated regression testing after model updates
  • Plant-change impact tracking & simulator update backlogs

B

Examination & assessment

Objective, defensible, secure evaluation for licensed operator programs, from initial exams through requalification.

B-1

Secure simulator & exam grading software

Grading tools built to the letter of your utility and site procedures. The exam security controls required by 10 CFR 55.49 and NUREG-1021 are designed in from the first requirement, not added at the end.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Written exam & operating test grading workflows
  • Role-based access, audit trails & exam integrity controls
  • Offline or isolated-network deployment
  • Output that matches your site's forms & records
  • 10 CFR 55.49
  • NUREG-1021
  • 10 CFR 55.59
  • Site procedures

B-2

Automated operator performance assessment & grading

Turn simulator data into objective performance evidence. Automating critical task evaluation and competency grading lets evaluators spend their time observing crews, not reconstructing timelines after the scenario.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Critical task & time-critical action tracking
  • Competency-based crew & individual grading
  • Evaluator-facing tools for use during the scenario
  • Trend analysis across crews, cycles & scenarios

C

Training operations

The software and automation that keep a training organization running on schedule and inspection-ready.

  • Task analysis & training needs support
  • Reporting & dashboards for training leadership
  • Systematic Approach to Training
  • 10 CFR 50.120

C-2

Training scheduling & qualification management

Know who is qualified, who is due, and who is close to lapsing before it turns into a staffing problem. We build scheduling and qualification tools around your program's real rules.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Qualification card, task & sign-off tracking
  • Requalification cycle & attendance scheduling
  • License proficiency watch tracking & expiration alerts

  • Placekeeping, sign-offs & step-level logging
  • Simulator-linked procedure tracking for scenarios & evaluations
  • Revision control aligned to your document control process

D

Modernization & integration

Keep what works and replace what's fragile. Fill the gaps your vendors can't.

D-1

Legacy application modernization & systems integration

Training organizations often depend on aging databases, macros, and tools that only one person understands. We modernize them, keep the knowledge built into them, and connect them to the systems around them.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Assessment of existing tools, data & dependencies
  • Phased migration with parallel validation
  • Maintainable code & complete documentation
  • Integration with LMS, HR, CAP & enterprise systems

D-2

Specialized solutions where COTS falls short

Off-the-shelf products are built for the average customer, and nuclear training is not average. When a vendor product can't meet a site-specific requirement, we build or bridge what's missing.

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES

  • Gap analysis against your requirements
  • Custom extensions & companion tools
  • Bridges between existing products

03 / WHY APEX

Industry knowledge,
not a learning curve.

We have worked inside training organizations, so we understand the constraints you work under from day one.

01

Practical industry knowledge

We've held the licenses, stood the watch, and worked under exam security. You won't spend the first month teaching us what a JPM is.

02

Tailored, not templated

Your procedures are the specification. We build around how your site actually operates, not around a vendor's assumptions.

03

Reliable by design

Tools that instructors and evaluators can depend on mid-scenario and during exam week. Tested, documented, and built to be maintained.

04

Clearly defined deliverables

Every engagement starts with a written scope, acceptance criteria, and a defined list of what you will receive. No open-ended projects.

BUILT FOR HOW NUCLEAR SITES WORK

  • Exam security first

We can scope and build without access to exam content, and we work under your exam security agreements when the project requires it.

  • Your network, your rules

Deployable on-premises and on isolated networks, within your site's IT and cyber security requirements. No cloud dependency unless you want one.

  • Fits your QA program

Documentation that supports your software quality assurance and configuration control procedures, from requirements to test records.

  • Traceable to the source

Every requirement traces back to the procedure, standard, or regulation it comes from, so reviewers can follow the logic.

06 / COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you
reach out.

Is this a software product we can buy?

No. This is a professional services offering. We develop custom software and provide engineering and consulting support scoped to your organization's requirements. Some engagements build on proven approaches from previous work, but every deliverable is tailored to your site.

Do you need access to our exam materials?

Not to get started. We can scope and design grading and assessment tools without seeing exam content. If a project later needs controlled material, we work within your exam security agreements and procedures.

Can you work with our existing simulator and instructor station?

In most cases, yes. We start from the platform, instructor station, and supporting systems you already have and design around what they expose. We'll talk through your specific environment during the consultation.

Will AI tools send our data to the cloud?

Only if you choose that. We specialize in local AI that runs on your own hardware, including on isolated networks, and every AI solution is designed to comply with your company's AI policies. AI assists your staff. It never replaces the judgment of qualified instructors or evaluators.

Do you work on-site?

Most work is done remotely. On-site visits for requirements gathering, installation, or testing can be included in a project's scope where they add value.

How are projects priced?

After the consultation, we provide a written proposal with defined deliverables, schedule, and pricing. Nothing is required of you until you've reviewed it.

Who owns the software you build?

Ownership, licensing, and source code terms are agreed in writing before work begins.
